Create a book design, cover illustration and chapter illustrations for the first and second collection of poems by Rene Oskam.
Rene uses an old typewriter to type out his poems. He has shared pictures of his work online, which has been a great succes. The font style we used for the book has been chosen to match with Rene’s typewriter style.
The illustrations are based on the titles of Rene’s books;‘Zwemles in een Zee van Tijd’ (literally translated: Swimming lessons in a Sea of Time) and ‘Safari door the Kosmos’ (Safari through the Cosmo) using an ironic, surrealistic, cartoonish style.
Create an explanatory animation on H&M’s tax policy and transfer pricing.
Studio 071 was the leading designer in this project together with de Collectie, Welkom to the Moon and Thijs van Iersel. For this very technical subject we came up with a highly illustrated and dynamic animation showing the total production chain. From the conceptual work in the head office in Stockholm to the store where the product is sold and everything in between, al the while showing were value is created.
Create four illustrations including a figurative trade mark for a campaign by Groene Cirkel Bijenlandschap, (a cooperation included Heineken, Naturalis, Akzo Nobel, the Province of South Holland and many others) to raise awareness for the possible extinction of the honey bee.
Together with Double Matured and Studio 071, we came up with the idea to create three images of a fabricated bee, alongside the regular bee, where the end of the abdomen is replaced with products (strawberry, pumpkin and coffee) that might disappear as the result of the extinction of the honey bee.
Create a new logo and visual identity for the atmosphere engineers of Doorgedraaid.
Doorgedraaid is a creative concept and production house operating mostly in the music festival scene. They create large-scale stages and decorative settings for major events like Soenda, Lowlands and Solar/Extrema. For the new visual identity we created an installation using natural materials, geometrical shapes and light works. A picture of this installation is used as a background image combined with a custom made, modern looking, typographical logo. The logo’s primary geometrical shapes are used to conceptualize the illusion of sound.
Assignment: Create the visual identity/logo for various companies.
Concept: Custom-made typographic logos.
Client: LOS magazine
Assignment: Create a cover illustration with the theme: 'Restaurant week'.
Concept: Studio 071 created a portrait of the stereotypical cook inspired by revolutionary Renaissance painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo, who is famous for making portraits composed of foodstuffs.
As a link to Leiden the nose is a carrot and the cheeks are onions (for the famous "peen & ui", the ingredients of hutspot).
Assignment: Doorgedraaid are best described as atmosphere engineers. Doorgedraaid is a creative company that organises electronic music events and creates stylish and unique decoration and stages for festivals and events, from concept to end product. Studio 071 is responsible for the visual identity of Doorgedraaid, including their bimonthly event posters.
Concept: Doorgedraaid started organising electronic music festivals and events in their home town, mostly outdoors. "The feeling you get when you stand with your bare feet in the grass, dancing till the sun comes up", was to be reflected in their visual identity. Therefore we came up with the concept of mixing nature with electronics and use this as the base of all their designs. Now, after 4 years, the result is quite a large series of posters, which is still growing!
Assignment: Design and create a mural for in the women's restroom with designs of Allart Lakke integrated in the design.
Concept: 'De Buitenste Binnen Tuin' is Dutch for The Outside In- Garden'. It's an installation in the style of a mythical, fairy tale garden in the women's restroom at Haagweg 4, where you can go to the toilet while gazing at the stars.
The foxes in the entry hall of the Garden are 2 characters created by Studio 071 as mascots for Leidse Lente.
